The origins of Qigong

Our weekly, live offerings, of the ancient practice of Chinese Qigong!

About 5000 years ago, a Chinese monk named BodiDharma brought Buddhism from India to China.
Legend has it he meditated in a cave for nine months cultivating and mastering his internal energy, then developing the routine of “The Eight Brocades”.
The Eight Brocades routine was originally developed for warriors. Exhausted from trudging long distances to the battlefield, soldiers would perform The Eight Brocades to relax, warm up, and energize themselves before going into battle.
Chi’s power and potential was noted by the highly respected Chinese religious, martial arts and healing temples. And so Qigong study and practice was added to the various temple disciplines.
The practice of working with “chi,” the unseen force, the mysterious energy behind all matter, came to be called Qigong or Chi Kung, meaning energy discipline, or energy mastery.

Qigong, or Chi Kung, means energy cultivation. The two styles we practice blend
movement, breathing, and Mindfulness, to physically energize the body and promote
overall health and well-being.

We meet Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings at 7am, US East Coast
time, to greet the Sunrise, and engage with the ever-present power of Chi that is all
around us.

Who they were, what they practiced

For thousands of years, in the relative quiet of their isolated hermitages, dedicated priests, scholars, warrior monks and healers, used uninterrupted generations to hone and refine the practice of Qigong.

Through lifetimes if disciplined prayer, meditation, and physical training, these dedicated souls expanded their conscious awareness of this unlimited potential that is in, of, and all around us.

In the “laboratories” of the temple schools the dedicated adherents forged the connection. In this alchemical process, these ancient practitioners blended Qigong with the individual and diverse styles they trained in.

The connection was forged. The Temple Schools used Qigong to tap into, harness, and channel this fundamental force of life, this energetic behind time and space.

The Taoist and Buddhist priests sought more time to contemplate and attain enlightenment. They used Qigong to enhance and master their physical bodies and lived long lives. It was said in some religious temples, “if you only lived to be 150, you died a young man.”

The warrior monks, already highly skilled at combat, used Qigong to enhance the power of their martial skills. They learned to defy physics with their athletic prowess, and learned how to move unseen, and silent.

The healers birthed Acupuncture and Energy movement to aid and heal others. The healers and acupuncturists learned and fostered the ability to channel energy through themselves, then direct the Chi out to specific areas and organs of their patients.

Who we are, what we discovered

EAST meets WEST in the Science of Quantum Physics

In the Western side of the world, through the discipline of Science and its tools of technology, Quantum Physics was discovered.
Physics tells us that all matter is made of energy. And at the smallest, most minuet, sub-subatomic level, there are these curious and strange entities that fracture the rules of physics.
Quarks, an odd, unpredictable and dynamic force, maybe between, maybe made up of, the most tiny, tiny, particles of Energy.
And this mysterious force can be both a wave, and/or a particle. The manifestation seems to materialize in either form, depending on what the mind of the Scientist/Monk expects to see.
Thus the observers themselves, bringing consciousness to the exploration with their actively engaged intervention, seemingly effect the very field of matter they are engaged with.
Come join us for an active exploration into to the Quantum field of Qigong!
